WASHINGTON -- Karen Hughes, a presidential confidant entrusted with the arduous job of reversing America's plummeting image abroad, announced Wednesday that she would resign from the administration and return to Texas.
She was the third prominent woman tapped by Bush to arrest the slide of the U.S. image, following failed tries in the years after Sept. 11 by ad executive Charlotte Beers and former ambassador Margaret Tutwiler.
when will it occur to bush that no amount of good pr is ever going to change others minds, especailly in the mid-east. its your policies, george!!! you are killing people, jacking with other countries governments and generally being a son-of-a-@!$%#. you are not popular in this country, any more. why would sending people out to make you look good? save the taxpayers some scratch and get of the pr machine, the focus group bit and rebuild america's image by ending your obsession with running other people's lives. fire all the sycophants and yes men (and women) and start engaging leaders of the countries you intend to screw-up, instead.
it is not america's image that is bad, at least it wasn't until you invaded iraq...the world was pretty much behind you then....but you and cheney, decided you had a mandate from the people to carry out your agenda to be the @!$%#-in-chief.
just go away, dammit.
luv,
ron
Hughes is leaving again, my guess her and Rice didn't mix. She is use to the President's ear and so is Rice. I am convinced that it is plain jealousy that got in the way of the decision.
Hughes has a family and I am sure that they mean more then the job, Rice has a job period.
