Personal navigation device maker TomTom shocked the market with a profit warning Tuesday, blaming pricing pressures.
Company Chairman Howard Schultz unveiled the blend in Bryant Park, saying customers want a consistent line of coffee.
I've been waiting for prices to go down. I do ok with Google maps anyway--that's just a luxury item (that can wait until after I get a Wii!).
I use the google maps, too. They seem to get me there. The personal navigation system would be fun novelty, though.
I've been using a navigation radio for years. I had a Navman handheld but it was terrible. After that I went to a Ford Traffic Pro. It was okay, it got me where I needed to go. Next, I went to a Chrysler RB4 in my wife's car. It was a step up from the Traffic Pro but nothin special. Now I have a Chrysler MyGig and it is the $#!^. It gets me where I need to go, which is still important, and detours me around congestion. I don't think I'll ever go back to a hand held, they're tinker toys in comparison. The hand held devices can't match the level of sophistication and accuracy of the radios. The downside of the radio is that your stuck with that technology for as long as you own the car. That's not a problem for me though since I lease a new car every couple of years.
Thanks for the information and suggestions.
