An unpublished memoir about sex with Norman Mailer, as well as a novel edited by the late author, was recently sold to Harvard (Mailer's alma mater) by his longtime mistress Carole Mallory, according to the New York Post's Page Six. Page Six writes:
Ironically, Mailer, who died in November, was posthumously awarded the "Bad Sex in Fiction" award for "a graphic passage in his novel The Castle in the Forest..
Yuck. The passage that "won" the award was a total turnoff. Very few people can write good sex scenes, and he definitely wasn't one of them.
Yeah. I agree. That passage was fairly un-enticing to read.
It seemed like satire.
While I can't say I've read much by Mailer (an essay or two, perhaps), I did have the thrill of seeing him and an entourage (possibly a mistress plus an ex-wife or two) at a college art exhibit in New York in which his daughter was participating. He looked very suave and content.
It must have been fun to see him in person at that event.

It was, though I wouldn't have recognized him had he not been pointed out to me. I'm pretty bad that way. Who knows what other celebrities I've missed (not that I'm much of a celebrity-worshipper (though I've been known to occasionally name-drop)).
