OMAHA, Neb. — An Omaha man struggling to breathe used a steak knife to perform an at-home tracheotomy.
Wilder suffered from throat cancer and related breathing problems several years ago. About that time, he had an episode where he couldn't breathe because his air passages swelled shut. He says that's what happened this time around.
whoa...not sure what to say...somewhat crazy or very brave ?
I know how to do a tracheotomy, and I have oftened wondered if I could do it to myself.
It's a practical solution, if nothing else. :-)
I have done several tracheotomy's, but not on myself...that would be hard. It was tough enough on another person.
However I should not really talk about crazy...My Dad during Korea had Appendicitis with a very inflamed appendix and of course no medic anywhere in the area other then himself....So he has a very nasty scar from a self performed appendicectomy. I am rather thankful he lived thru that one.

I bet you are.
I think doing such things is a mix of a little craziness, incredible saneness, and braveness.
That is about the same thing I told him when I asked him how he got the nasty scar.
