Arizona Family's Pet Chihuahua Found Cut in Half

advertisement

Phoenix police are investigating a startling animal-cruelty case in which a 6-month-old Chihuahua was found cut in half.

The distraught Medina family had to remove photos of their dog "Taco" from the walls of their Phoenix home after the dog's owner, Humberto Medina, made the gruesome discovery.

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

"I don't understand why they did (this)," Humberto Medina told MyFOXPhoenix.com. "He was just a little dog. He cannot hurt anybody."

Shaun v,

When I see an article like this I don't want to have to read it since it does make me angry and sad. So I click the Newsvine Alert off and sent your seed to my Trash file. As you can tell I went back to the Trash file and did read your comment and the article seeded.

Whoever did this or would even think of doing such a terrible thing is a coward and the lowest form of life that crawls on this planet. Logic can not help in this case neither can we turn our heads from it like I tried to do a moment ago. If they do find the fool or fools that did this terrible act the laws of our nation will not be up to the crime. If the public is cold enough to say that this act was wrong and terrible yet it was only an animal the public should know that most mass-murders start off in this manner.

I won't go into it in detail now but will say that an AT&T service man tried to pepper stray my two dogs who were on leads and I was present at the time. The pups were fast enough to not be hit by the spray so this young fool and coward sprayed me in my face. He than pulled a knife on me as I stood six or seven feet from him. (I'm 75 years old.) He wanted no part of me and ran away when I said OK let's go. I had only my hands to use. I'm not the type to fight anyone but neither do I cut puppies in half or spray animals for no reason with pepper spray. We must stand up to these cowards. Michel Vick is in prison because the public made enough noise about his dog fighting.

I often attempt to avoid reading such articles, too. Still, I always end up reading them.

Agreed,, IMO, it is important for people to remain aware of such abuses, and to know that people are prosecuted, at least in some way, for such crimes. The punishment may not be strict enough, but it is evolving.

Good point. I don't think the general public is aware of that issue.

He sounds like a truly psychologically damaged person. Sorry to hear you had this experience.

I hope you reported the incidence to the police. The courts are stricter when a young person harasses someone over 65. A lot of people are not aware of this.

I was not attempting to put something on a teen. This man was in his early thirties, I believe, which is a young person when you are pushing 75.

After he turned and went into the street since my eyes were burning badly I called 911 and the police did come. I took the number of his service truck and called AT&T. It's being followed up at this time. I wanted AT&T to get the message out that their service people should use more common sense. My pups are alright and it's hard to harm a large bug with a hard shell. I was much angrier at what he did to my dogs than what he did to me. Fools that killed that little dog in your article, and individuals like this service person have to be kept in check and that can only be done by a caring active public.

I did a awful lot of letter writing pertaining the M. Vick dog fighting situation. There is humor even in tragedy. I also had a negative bumper sticker made showing Vick running in his football uniform and a large dog biting him you no where. I placed it on my car. As I drove around town some men would point with one finger at the sky, and I don't believe it was a religious sign. Many older ladies would pull up next to my car and throw a kiss.

I am glad to hear this.

My pups are alright

That's good news.

Shaun v,

It upsets me that a seeding such as this gets such little notice. It may be that it's just so very graphic and tragic that most individuals can't look it straight in the eye and get mad and YELL out about it. It's a shame but these good decent animals lovers would rather write about how cute their puppies are. That in itself is great and show love yet it's not enough. Just my two cents. I'll be checking back to see if you get any more response.

Ira

Agreed.

On Newsvine, however, politics seems to get the most attention.

You may be right about the reasoning.

Shaun v.,

We both may be right so keep on keeping on. I wonder how many puppies lovers got mad enough to write to the proper individuals about M. Vick and his dog fighting.

I know I did.

Animal rights organizations have often noted that people don't want to be apprised of sad stories detailing animal abuse, in their news letters. Not sure why.

Shaun v.

I guess it is for the same reasons that politicians form the Left and from the Right try to look like they are from the Middle in order to please everyone. It's a shame since what ever you are when you try to please everyone else you most times stop being who you were in the first place.

Shaun, thank you for seeding this article.

Ira, thank you for sharing your unfortunate experience. I'm relieved that you and your pups are okay.

I had wanted to reply last night, but this article hits way too close to home. On March 8th one of my family's four-footed members was brutally killed, by whom we do not know. I won't even recount the atrocities inflicted on our poor little Sammy dog - it was simply horrible. My family is still hurting, not only from our loss and the manner in which it occurred, but from the knowledge that there are people running loose in this world who are sick enough to perpetrate such senseless horrors.

Fugitive:

I am sorry to hear of this terrible tragedy and the recent loss of your beloved dog.

Senseless is the right word.

Fugitive,

As Rocky told me after reading about the lose of your friend humans have a long way to go until they stop doing human like things as what happened to your friend. It really makes him lift his leg to have humans say that that person acted like an animal when doing some evil human deed. But Rocky added "what can you expect from a lower intelligence."

Good point.

We humans believe we are of superior intelligence. Still, perhaps, intelligence is a matter of perspective on a universal scale and human perspective is skewed by our own arrogance.

Rocky said that for a human you are a real THINKER and not a STINKER. His hope, he tells me, is that evolution will one day make more humans this intelligent.
