FORMER NASA astronaut and moonwalker Dr Edgar Mitchell - a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission - has stunningly claimed aliens do exist.
And he says extra-terrestrials have visited Earth on several occasions - but the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for six decades.
He told the astonished Kerrang! radio host Nick Margerrison: "This is really starting to open up. I think we're headed for real disclosure and some serious organisations are moving in that direction."
Mr Margerrison said: "I thought I'd stumbled on some sort of astronaut humour but he was absolutely serious that aliens are definitely out there and there's no debating it."
Yeah...I'm going to have to go with "conspiracy theory" until we get solid evidence, but how awesome would it be if we actually have been contacting aliens all these years?

I'm psyched, if they are friendly.
It's getting lonely being the only known intelligent life form in the multiverse.
Interesting statement from NASA, BTW:
In a statement, a spokesman said: "NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe.
It doesn't refute his claims, it simply states that NASA is not invovled.
Excellent observation, Gumwars.
I missed that nuance, but you are right.
I KNEW it. Bastards.
I wonder what all the cloak and dagger stuff, is about, if they do exist.
Once 'terrorism' gets back down to room temperature where it belongs, [just under children choking on hard candy] the 'one world govt' crowd will simulate some external threat. There may well be aliens and if there were we'd be toast if they were aggressive. But a fake threat would work just dandy. Lets see, since the end of WW2, we've been made scared of Communism, then Terrorism, Alien invasion, perfect.
Unless they mind beam us revealing how Christ was a teenage rebel alien and give us 99% solar panel tech and safe simple personal fusion and atomic manipulation household capacities.
That would be fun. I would say they'd have well developed but initially unfathomable senses of humor too.
Bring it on space clowns.
killer klowns from outer space?

WWII War opponents said similar things regarding the NAZI death camps. Some people, like Ahmadinejad, are still claiming they never existed. Both my grand dad and grand father-in-law, who fought in WWII, were present when the camps were liberated and they saw the emaciated, hollowed-eyed refugees.
Winsome, I agree with everything you said except:
Bring it on space clowns.
@!$%# clowns. I don't care what species they are. Creepy, unfunny bastids. :(
I got here via CosmicLog RE Mitchell/Aliens...it's true, Kids.

Thank you for the opportunity...been waiting to 'spill the beans' for quite a while now.
Mankind's predeliction to shoot first and ask questions later has been a huge factor.

Narcissistic and disordered, much like the gentleman in need of a shave.
I agree with you, Lynnea!
I'm not so sure about the hysteria part. If we can present this as the wonderful find that it should be, military authorities could still control the press enough so that they could protect the find. Didn't they do so in the invasions of Kuwait and Iraq? The increased questioning should raise greater input as far as how we may evaluate their biology or technology.
For the last 8 years, anyway, the US government has been trying to control the masses through fear. Our fear, however, is based on something either (a) created for effect, or (b) real but exaggerated to a high degree, and (c) seen as controllable by the government (as long as we give up certain rights.) Evidence of a real alien presence would change all that; it would be none of those three!
Any government would seem helpless against beings with far greater technology than ourselves. We may be apprehensive about something on a global scale, and individual governments would not be able to leverage that for governing controlling the citizenry. People in charge of governments love power, and the existence of some "higher being" would work against that.
And don't even get me started on the religious implications!
It would be sad if someone kept secret the cure for cancer, the availability of simple inexhaustible energy, the simplification of space exploration, or the elimination of hunger. But I'll wager there are those who would for the "right reasons." We are all human beings, after all.
