Obama Says He Didn't Know Aunt's Illegal Status

Barack Obama said Saturday he was unaware that one of his relatives from Kenya was living in the United States illegally and added that believes the appropriate laws should be followed.
The Associated Press reported Friday that Obama's aunt had been instructed to leave the country four years ago by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya.

Good Point.
The press has certainly glossed over the numerous lies that Obama has told, throughout the election.
If this were McCain's or Palin's aunt, or if they had lied about knowing certain radicals., the press would be airing the news non stop.

I think the real issue is that Obama's campaign accepted an illegal campaign donation from her. After the election there is a pending investigation of Obama's donations some of which were paid for with untraceable single-use credit cards.
I personally do not care if illegals living here are helped to become citizens. IMO, going forward we need to be more selective about who we let in just like Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

That's a non-issue in THIS story. $260 is the real issue? If there are campaign fund improprieties elsewhere, then yes it may be an issue for another story.
The issue that I see is that he is brought up with the values that say you can bend or ignore the rules if they don't suit your needs. That's what people hate about Bush. I know the majority of people posting on this story are pro-Bush, but he has bent/ignored rules he didn't like, just like Obama's Aunt.
Obama is full of double-speak. Everyone makes mistakes and knows people who have done wrong. Obama seems to try lying about everything whenever something pops up. I'm questioning his integrity more and more.
Ya know the politician I really miss? Gary Hart. I may not be remembering all the facts since I was a young'in back then, but wasn't he accused of having an affair? Instead of denying or lying or waiting for proof to come out -- he just said something like "Yeah, I did it." Then he was forced out of the race. Can you imagine if politicians actually fessed up like that BEFORE they were forced into confessions?
Obama denies everything until he HAS to admit to something, then still tries to side-step everything. Just like Bush, just like Clinton. Is Hart still alive? Maybe I should write him in on Tuesday.

Yes. At least Hart told the truth about his affair unlike Clinton.
I think Obama has lied because he knew that if he told the truth he would likely lose the nominations.
Still, I think a lot of people are starting to realize that Obama denies the truth until forced to admit the truth.

Hmmm, I just checked around on the Hart thing. Looks like he did deny allegations at first :-( Does anyone know some examples of Politicians who stand up and face the music, without being forced to do so? I'm thinking maybe Ventura. When I first learned of him running I was really P.O.d I thought it was rediculous that a "wrestler" was running for office and would probably win because of his popularity. Since then, I haven't agreed with all his policies and decisions but he seems to speak up front and to the point. Don't know if he's been confronted with and fessed up to politically damaging or embarrasing information though.
Ya know, certain intelligence jobs require personnel to submit to a polygraph test about their lifestyle. Very personal questions. The purpose is to expose any secret information that a Foreign Intel Service could use to exploit the agent and extract secret info from him/her. If for example the agent is secretly gay or had an affair, he must make that information known to his family/friends. If he refuses, the information is not disclosed to his family, but he will not be granted access to sensitive material.
Why is this practice deemed essential and prudent for Intel personnel, but considered an invasion of privacy for national decision makers?

Barack Obama was born in Kenya, his mother brought hin to the U.S. when he was about 4 weeks old and ask a doctor to give her a birth cirtificate for him. Check the imigration law of the time and you will find that having only one parent that was a U.S. citizen and being born outside the U.S. would make Barack Obama NOT a U.S. citizen.

He's a lawyer and a smart guy. How could they have not ever talked about her immigration status? Seems he would want to make sure she was her legally since he is a Senator.
I have a few relatives I don't keep in touch with on a regular basis, but I do know where they all live and for how long.
