How Conservatives Can Combat Lib Media: Talent and Optics

advertisement

The two stars of the recent election were Barack Obama and "mainstream media" bias. In this media climate, the terms "Republican" and "conservative" have been relegated to epithet status.

My Democratic-leaning friends argue, fairly, I think, that if the media are so biased, why have Republican presidents sat in the Oval Office for nearly 20 of the last 28 years? The answer is that while the media always play a huge role in presidential elections and their aftermaths, they don't play the only role.

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Even Gingrich has dropped the tactic.

Wake up. The media is the powerbase and plays to emergent forces, or else your prescious Bush wouldn't have gotten his war in Iraq.

The media is not liberal, its corporate.

Until you figure out that they butter the bread and both sides, its just the same old dualistiic propaganda here.

Actually,  I think that is accurate.

If you have followed my comments you would have noticed that I am predicting the the Media will soon turn on Obama, when profitable.

I suggest that you use the word corporate media, which takes the partisan zing down a notch or two.

When I saw the recent story that claimed that the media covered the political race at 7th grade reading level this more than explained one of the major problems in this country of how people are being manipulated by the corporate media.
